Block Blast scoring explained

Every point value in the game, with tables and step-by-step examples.

Where points come from

In Block Blast you score points in three ways: by placing blocks, by clearing lines and by emptying the whole board. Combos multiply the points for clearing lines. Each time you score, the points appear briefly on the board, and the total in the top bar counts up.

Points for placing a piece

Every block you put on the board is worth 1 point. A piece gives as many points as it has blocks:

PieceBlocksPoints
Single block11
Small corner, line of 333
2×2 square, line of 4, L, T, S, Z44
Line of 5, large corner55
2×3 rectangle66
3×3 square99

These points are never multiplied, and you get them even when the move clears nothing.

Points for clearing lines

A line is a full row or a full column; both count the same. The points for one move depend on how many lines that move clears together: 10 × the number of lines × the number of lines. Two lines at once are worth four times as much as one, and three lines nine times as much:

Lines cleared with one piecePoints
110
240
390
4160
5250
6360

Rows and columns can be mixed: one row and one column cleared by the same piece count as two lines. Six lines is the most one piece can clear, for example a 3×3 square that completes three rows and three columns at once.

Combos

A combo starts when you clear lines and then clear again soon after. After a clearing move, you may place up to two pieces that clear nothing; if the third piece clears a line, the combo still goes on. If you place three pieces in a row without clearing anything, the combo ends and the next clear starts a new one.

Each clearing move in a combo multiplies its line points by its place in the combo:

Clearing move in the comboLine points are multiplied by
1st (starts the combo)1
2nd2
3rd3
4th4
5th, 6th, 7th5, 6, 7
8th and later8

From the second clearing move on, the game shows the current level, for example "Combo 3". The level keeps counting after 8, but the multiplier stays at 8. Your best combo is kept in your statistics. Big clears also get a word of praise: "Good" for 2 lines, "Great" for 3, "Excellent" for 4 and "Amazing" for 5 or more.

Board clear bonus

If a move clears lines and leaves the board completely empty, you get a bonus of 300 points on top of the other points for that move. Your statistics count how many board clears you have made in each mode.

Examples step by step

One row

A line of 4 blocks fills the last four squares of a row. You get 4 points for the blocks and 10 for the line: 14 points.

A row and a column

A small corner piece of 3 blocks completes the bottom row and the first column at the same time:

One small corner piece completes the bottom row and the first column.

That is 3 points for the blocks and 40 for two lines: 43 points.

A combo of three clears

  1. A 2×2 square clears one row: 4 + 10 = 14 points. The combo starts.
  2. A line of 3 clears nothing: 3 points. The combo is still alive.
  3. A T shape clears two lines. It is the second clearing move, so the line points are doubled: 4 + 40 × 2 = 84 points.
  4. A single block clears one line. It is the third clearing move: 1 + 10 × 3 = 31 points.

Together the four pieces score 14 + 3 + 84 + 31 = 132 points. Without the combo, the same moves would give 14 + 3 + 44 + 11 = 72.

A board clear

Only five blocks are left, all in the bottom row. A line of 3 fills the gap:

The last row clears and leaves the board empty: a board clear.

The row clears and the board is empty: 3 points for the blocks, 10 for the line and 300 for the board clear, 313 points in total.
